Project philosophy

I try to declare what I want from this project to be, for the near future.

• Well-thought introduction of features.
• Support as many phones as it can.
• Practicality first. For example, you may want free VC4 and whatnot, but OMX player and EGL2.0 works right now.

What it will not be:

• A replacement for the car stereo in your dash.
• A retropie/kodi/xbmc system.
• A backup cam.
• A dash cam either.
• A standalone Media/music player. If you want something like that, have a look at this project.
• A central controller for your car. You would have to fork your project (and I'm totally happy to see/support it with what I know).

Things that might be possible in the future, but not right now:

• Ham radio/Software-defined radio.
• ODB-II.
• Bluetooth integration.
• Custom touchscreens/screen sizes.
• Custom boards other than the Pi.

Things that are unlikely to be true:

• Commercializing this project.
