Describe your environment.

.NET based API in Linux container.

What are you trying to achieve?

We are investigating if we can emit well-known ASP.NET event counters as OTEL metrics.

Additional Context

Event counters are new to me so maybe I'm looking over something.

Might be related to #1269

open-telemetry/opentelemetry-dotnet-contrib#215 need this.
We can close this issue as open-telemetry/opentelemetry-dotnet-contrib#215 is tracking the general EventCounter support.
