Introduction
Chain Line uses a network of untrusted peers to get products and valuable items to their destinations with near-zero risk.
Its goal is to introduce a modern peer-to-peer courier platform to address the needs of shipping companies and individuals alike, powered entirely by a smart contract on the blockchain.
The smart contract allows the system to transfer risk between peers as value passes through the system. A centralised "hub" contract controls "reserved funds" in actively validated Chain Line user wallets running custom verification scripts.
There is no third-party risk as no company or entity operates Chain Line. Source code on GitHub dictates exactly how the system operates and Chain Line does not rely on any external "oracle" systems for it to work.
Chain Line features a user reputation system which allows users to specify a minimum limit of successfully completed Chain Line transactions required to make a match.
A picture is worth a thousand words... This image was posted on Ctrip's WeChat account around the time the iPhone X was announced.
Chain Line was built for a next generation of smarter economy shipping companies, or just a cheaper low risk way for the average person to get something delivered to them from another place.
- Delivery companies with global shipment networks operating with franchises and third parties
- As an open source project for the world!
Making Chain Line an attractive option for a wide audience is most certainly on the agenda. Projects like NeoID for attaching real user identity to transactions are expected to significantly improve its appeal. For more information on what is planned, check the roadmap.
