Purpose

  • Transfer management of NERC top-of-rack switches to MOCA
  • Move uplinks from Harvard aggregation to new NERC core Cisco switches for all TORS
  • Return borrowed TORS in R2-PC-C06 and R7-PC-C03
  • Relocate ALL equipment in R7-PC-C03 to R2-PC-C21

Maintenance Timeframe / Affected Clusters

All NERC Clusters (Openstack and Openshift)
1/7/2025 9 AM Eastern Time to 1/8/2025 9 AM Eastern Time

Pre-Maintenance Tasks

Maintenance Tasks

  • NERC ADMINS: Bring down all services gracefully
  • Move core uplink to Harvard from MOC-CORE to NERC-CORE
  • Add link from MOC-CORE to NERC-CORE for NERC VLANs
  • Move uplink for R8-PA-C23 from MOC-CORE to NERC-CORE (R6-PB-C02) - Cable already in rack, just port swap
  • Move uplink for R1-PC-C20 from Harvard aggregation to NERC-CORE (R6-PB-C02) - Cable already in rack, just port swap
  • Remove 2x Harvard switches in R2-PB-C06
  • Install 2x Dell S5048-ON switches in R2-PC-C06 to replace existing switches
  • Move uplink for R2-PC-C06 from Harvard aggregation to NERC-CORE (R6-PB-C02) - Cable already in rack, just port swap
  • Move equipment from R7-PC-C03 to R2-PC-C21 and cable up with new switch in R2-PC-C21
  • NERC ADMINS: Bring up all services and verify all networks are behaving the same (maintenance should be transparent from the perspective of NERC hardware)

Support

  • One other person on-site would be good to help with moving stuff around (Techsquare?)
  • Nick Amento is available for remote support for anything relating to networking
