Does this mean the mySociety newsletter? https://www.mysociety.org/subscribe/ I see there's an option to subscribe specifically to "News about FOI, transparency and journalism", perhaps WhatDoTheyKnow users would be signed up with just that option ticked? |
Yep
We don't actually run an FOI-specific newsletter these days (may or may not still exist for signups), and whether we should is still being thought about. Doesn't really matter though. This issue is more about just presenting the menu.
I don't think we pre-tick the boxes, so it'll just be a link to https://www.mysociety.org/subscribe/. |
@garethrees in which part of the front-page would you like it? |
Was thinking another full-width section along the lines of #1434 and #1433. In terms of position, I'm thinking:
Let's go quite simple. It's not intended to be a primary action or anything; just a signpost that there are some newsletters and that there's more to WhatDoTheyKnow. |
Current branch: 1570-newsletter-section |
A specific of #791, similar to #1434 and #1433.
We should clearly show that we have a newsletter. I don't have a particular design in mind, but something pretty simple will do. Only worth ~ half a day to pop something in.
It'll need to be a bit vague about who runs it / what the contents are – it's currently the mySociety general newsletter, so wording along the lines of "Keep up with what we're doing – news on Transparency, Democracy, Community, Climate and more…".
It should just be a link to https://www.mysociety.org/subscribe/ rather than a sign up form.
