Should consider what to do with the similar accounts list ("more than one person has this name") #1732

These are looking really good :) @wrightmartin ✨ I think this makes the currently messy page much clearer.

I've got a question about the prominence of different bits of information.

In the current design, and these ideas, the information about how long someone has been a member is very prominent compared to the text supplied by the user, which if present generally gives a really useful feel/context for the person. I recon it's more useful to make that text more prominent.

I'm not clear on the use to users of the 'member since' info at all. The number of requests and annotations seems much more useful. You could do something like "5 requests since 2013" to connect the information if it is useful ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

What's the 'contributions count' counting?

Would it make sense to visually associate the 'follow' stuff more closely with the users requests? Maybe I'm just confused by the two follow sections :)

Hope those questions/thoughts are useful :) really looking forward to seeing this roll on 🚄

@equivalentideas excellent feedback thank you!

Honestly, the wireframes here are extrapolations of some of the design ideas and patterns that came from the changes to the request page (#3269). I haven't thought that deeply about the details, but will do when we allocate some proper time to the ticket. I'd love for you to be more involved in that process when we get to it, if that sounds ok to you?

What's the 'contributions count' counting?

Nice spot - this is a tiny seed of an idea to bring the request game out of its silo and into the site more naturally, its an early idea we're playing with to help engage users that perhaps don't have a request but want to contribute to the site in some way

Would it make sense to visually associate the 'follow' stuff more closely with the users requests?

Definitely!

the information about how long someone has been a member is very prominent compared to the text supplied by the user, which if present generally gives a really useful feel/context for the person. I recon it's more useful to make that text more prominent.

Totally true - we're hampered a little by the freedom users have with that text, I think it can be a maximum of 500 characters, so it was tricky to place somewhere it wouldn't have negative impact on the page layout as a whole

I'm not clear on the use to users of the 'member since' info at all. The number of requests and annotations seems much more useful. You could do something like "5 requests since 2013" to connect the information if it is useful

I'm not sure either, I could see older users being proud of their long-term commitment, but I've mostly tried to redesign the layout of the page without taking any 'big' decisions about removing the information that's presented

@wrightmartin Nice :) That's all really interesting and sounds good.

I'd love for you to be more involved in that process when we get to it, if that sounds ok to you?

I'd love to be involved and I'm sure @henare would have great contributions on this as well :)
