Current status of library(tabling)?

I tried to use_module(library(tabling)) just now following the example in @triska 's Memoization chapter, but found operator (table)/1 undefined:

:- use_module(library(tabling)).
%@    true.

:- table(rec3plus3/2).
%@    error(existence_error(procedure,(table)/1),(table)/1).

I see that the definition of (table)/1 is commented-out in tabling.pl.

It's a directive, you can simply leave it in your code, but not query it!

Closing as solved, many thanks! I have used it to define a predicate that pairs each final state of a 3+3 trial (per the DCG specification of our paper) with the corresponding dose recommendation. Because some such final states can be reached by multiple paths, there are fewer such states than paths overall. (For example, only 29 distinct final states on 46 paths for the 2-dose trial.) The tabled version automatically avoided double-counting!
