This page is a quick reference guide to the data available on the Universal Drug Codes Server, or 'UCS'.

Products are added on an as-needed basis. To request a new product, please log a GitHub issue here: https://github.com/openmsupply/unified-codes/issues/new

Product Categories

  • Drugs
    • Medicinal products will fall under this category (including vaccines)
  • Consumables
    • Non-medicinal products such as Condoms, Goggles and Masks
  • Other
    • Currently there are no products in this category

Product Internal Properties

Each product is defined by a combination of the following qualifiers

  • Product (e.g. 'Amoxicillin')
  • Route (e.g. 'oral', 'parenteral')
  • Dose Form (e.g. 'capsule', 'liquid')
  • Does Qualification (e.g. 'dispersable', 'chewable')
  • Strength (e.g. '250mg')
  • Unit of Presentation (e.g. '2mL')
  • Immediate Packaging (e.g. 'Vial')

Product External Properties

Currently (as of April 2021), UCS supports the following external property types:

  • RxNav Id
  • WHO EML Categories for Products and Items
  • NZULM
  • UNSPSC

We have future plans to include the following:

  • ATC Code
  • ddd
