Per discussion with @annevk, we should probably hold off on this until whatwg/html#5650 is sorted out.

FWIW I think we are positive enough about this to label it "worth prototyping" even pending the details being discussed (as in, they don't appear to be risks of harm). Perhaps consider leaving this open since it appears one way or another those details are likely to be resolved soon.

I reopened this with @dbaron's feedback applied in #371, because apparently I can't reopen a PR if I have force-pushed to the same branch. Oh well.

I don't have a strong opinion on whether we should merge the position or not. The issues I have with it are more on the technical side, I think the feature itself is valuable.
