Roadmap

Localization

Much of the copy on the site can now be translated in Pontoon, Mozilla's localization tool. However, we don't want to release new locales until we have a minimum set of localized curricular content. Curricular content can not be easily translated in Pontoon, so we are working on different solutions for managing this work.

Once we've established and proven out systems for localizing site copy and curricular content, we can move toward community management of other localized content such as: blogs, community programming (e.g. community calls), support tools (e.g. Twitter or email), and Mozilla Club support and materials.

Curriculum Database

We are building out a database to house meta-data about our various curricular materials. We will capture information about each piece of content, including title, author, description, duration, difficulty, etc. Once this data is standardized and stored in a database, we can do several useful things:

  • Add search and browse functionality to https://learning.mozilla.org/activities
  • Ensure that content displayed on https://learning.mozilla.org/activities and content displayed via the Web Literacy Map is never out of sync
  • Show relationships between teaching activities (i.e. provide an easy path from an activity to a localized or otherwise remixed variation)
  • Build out an interface for network members to submit content to the database

Content

We continue to edit, refine, and add content to the Learning site to better reflect our current programming. Upcoming content changes include:

  • Updating the Maker Party page to reflect the 2016 campaign
  • Adding information about our Gigabit programs to the site (and retiring the other Gigabit web properties)
  • Adding information about our Hive programs (and retiring hivelearningnetworks.org)
