When show_whitespaces is active, the cursor is misplaced on whitespace characters

Starting with commit f310db6, if show_whitespaces is active then if you go into insert mode and type a space or tab character, the cursor will stay on that character instead of moving to the next one, as if you still were in normal mode.
Also, starting with the same commit, the end of line character won't appear.
Both of those problems don't occur on the last line of the file.
