This is PR includes a large number upgrades and security improvements, and bumps the version up to 3.0.0. See the "News" section for more info.
This began as #42 then diverged from that, then ultimately the dev workflow stuff was removed because it wasn't actually working. I will try to add that back at some later time, although if the new Docker BuildKit stuff matures fast enough (moby/buildkit#442 and moby/moby#32507) then that might be unnecessary since the builds would become super quick (which will be really cool).
