Taking snapshots

Click the Snapshot button to open a new window with the current view rendered in SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format. SVG is a vectorized format, meaning it can be expanded without losing detail, making it ideal for printing and publication. To save the snapshot to a file, use the browser's Save function or print to a PDF (if available). Unfortunately, various web browsers handle the snapshots differently (see below).
browser | view | save | notes
Safari | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | Save in "Page Source" format |
Chrome | ✓ | ✓ | Can be saved by printing to PDF (if available). Versions 15 and later can have black wedges; there is currently no workaround.
Firefox | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | Firefox 5 and earlier shows black wedges when first viewing; fixed by saving SVG and re-opening. |
Opera | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | Label positioning is off when viewing or printing; fixed by saving and opening with a different browser/viewer. |
