Installing Mapnik from packages

Ubuntu

Install packages that update nightly based off master Mapnik:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mapnik/nightly-trunk
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libmapnik python-mapnik libmapnik-dev

If you get an error like "Some packages could not be installed. This may mean you have requested an impossible situation...." it likely means your apt config is missing the universe repository. Add the universe keyword to the lines in /etc/apt/sources.list.
