Introduce sane defaults to env variables in the code

The ideal dev experience for a new contributor should be less than 3 steps. So, we should ensure that they don't have to search around for how to fill all environment variables.

The biggest blocker here for R2-D2 is the Facebook environment variables. Would love some creative solutions here : )

Hey, Rohit here. I would like to be assigned this issue (first issue). Also, just to clarify, I can only see three env variables (the facebook ones) on the template that can have defaults. The rest don't exactly need defaults right?

I am sorry, could not give it much time.I can do it, now that my sem is over. I figure that the issue is as trivial as changing the .env file containing the environment variables. We'll have to figure out the defaults tho. If you want we can discuss the idea. Otherwise you can take me off the issue.
