The AdPlayer is an open-source JavaScript solution to display an adchoices button with privacy information in relation to an ad placement. It is meant to technically realize the self-commitment in context of the european Online Behavioral Advertising (OBA) Framework.

If the user clicks the adchoices button the AdPlayer shows a list of privacy information of all parties (from the publisher to the adserver) being involved in serving the ad and using/collecting OBA data. The list by default is displayed in a popup window but it can also be rendered in a floating layer. Each item of the list of privacy information consists of the organizations name, a short description and a link to a vendors website, where the user can disagree with using and collecting OBA data (Opt-Out).

The AdPlayer is designed to work with current adserving technology and advertising formats. It is an open-source solution written in JavaScript and CSS for styling purposes. The AdPlayer is designed to be as flexible as possible and offers a simple way for collecting and displaying privacy informations with the creative. Cookie based Opt-Out systems are not part of this project.

The AdPlayer is an open-source project and is not related to any company or person(s). The development and support is provided by a small group of people/companies which are members of the german Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW). If you are interested in supporting the team and/or this project, please read the Get Involved guide.
