Async

Implements the reactor pattern using fibers.

Build Status

Setup

The build tool teapot needs to be installed (which requires Ruby):

$ gem install teapot

Dependencies

Fetch all the necessary project dependencies:

$ cd async
$ teapot fetch

Tests

Run the tests to confirm basic functionality:

$ cd async
$ teapot Test/Async

N.B. if you run with variant-sanitize, you will need clang 5.x+ as previous versions have bugs.

Usage

Reactor reactor;

Fiber fiber([&](){
	After event(0.1, reactor);
	
	event.wait(); // wait for 100ms
	
	std::cout << "Hello World" << std::endl;
});

fiber.resume();
reactor.update(1); // Run the reactor once and wait at most 1s for events.

Blocking operations such as read and write can be handled asynchronously.

The preferred method is to run one reactor per thread.

Contributing

  1. Fork it.
