Unable to Start Minikube on M2 Macbook #16052

Got the same issue and was able to fix it with the workaround mentioned at #16073. But I still think that this should be considered a bug because it should work by default with |

Is there any logical reasoning to my initial error above? Why does Minikube not work as expected with The above command I posted 2 days ago fails for me now:
Can someone explain what the issue is here? It worked fine previously on my older M1 ARM64 based MBP. Now it just constantly fails. Anyone know why I can no loner run Minikube anymore? |

Error I'm currently getting after several cleanup attempts and verifying I have the OS X ARM64 version of Minikube:
[etcd] Creating static Pod manifest for local etcd in "/etc/kubernetes/manifests"
[wait-control-plane] Waiting for the kubelet to boot up the control plane as static Pods from directory "/etc/kubernetes/manifests". This can take up to 4m0s
[kubelet-check] Initial timeout of 40s passed.
Unfortunately, an error has occurred:
timed out waiting for the condition
This error is likely caused by:
- The kubelet is not running
- The kubelet is unhealthy due to a misconfiguration of the node in some way (required cgroups disabled)
If you are on a systemd-powered system, you can try to troubleshoot the error with the following commands:
- 'systemctl status kubelet'
- 'journalctl -xeu kubelet'
Additionally, a control plane component may have crashed or exited when started by the container runtime.
To troubleshoot, list all containers using your preferred container runtimes CLI.
Here is one example how you may list all running Kubernetes containers by using crictl:
- 'crictl --runtime-endpoint unix:///var/run/cri-dockerd.sock ps -a | grep kube | grep -v pause'
Once you have found the failing container, you can inspect its logs with:
- 'crictl --runtime-endpoint unix:///var/run/cri-dockerd.sock logs CONTAINERID'`

To see the stack trace of this error execute with --v=5 or higher
Suggestion: Check output of 'journalctl -xeu kubelet', try passing --extra-config=kubelet.cgroup-driver=systemd to minikube start
I've seen this come up previously as an issue but the solutions didn't fix it for me. I'm on OS X Ventura (13.2.1).
I've installed Minikube specifically for the ARM64 Macbook M2 (Darwin) which worked fine previously on my other M1 (ARM64) MBP. I'm using the latest version of Docker and can deploy docker containers fine on my system but Minikube fails consistently.
Minikube version:

Delete & purging my profile from previous attempts and deleting the docker image to be sure:

I eventually get the same error as I posted above. Nothing appears to be working for me and not sure why.
