What would you like to be added:

Why is this needed:

In order to account for errors with a ProvisioningRequest.

Note: with #1351 merged we have the mechanism in place. Still, some configuration for MaxRetries and MinBackoffSeconds would be useful.

Completion requirements:

This enhancement requires the following artifacts:

  • Design doc
  • API change
  • Docs update

The artifacts should be linked in subsequent comments.

With #1351 merged we have the mechanism in place. Still, the issue remains valid to make the mechanism configurable (MaxRetries and intervals between attempts).
