By design structural schema CRDs don't publish defaults, so kubectl cannot know that it would be defaulted on the server.
This results in a not ideal UX when client-side applying empty required/defaulted fields, since client side validation prevent them from being applied before they ever get defaulted.
It'd be nice to have a warning or some kind of user message when generating CRDs with fields that are both required and defaulted.
