What this PR does / why we need it:
This PR is a general cleanup towards v1alpha1 for MachineDeployment controller code. It doesn't change any logic or behavior.

@vincepri Are these changes all manually made? I'm generally not a fan of formatting only changes unless they are resolving issues related to linting or during refactoring, otherwise they tend to cause confusion within the git history.

Yeah they are. I'm going through the codebase to make it a little more readable and standardize across packages a little more, which I feel it helps in the long run.
