DEPRECATED: use feature branches. git-backup is a utility to backup all Git entities that were not pushed to a remote as Git patches and store them to the specified place. These are: * non-staged modifications; * staged modifications; * untracked files (if the option is given); * non-pushed commits on all local branches that track remote branches; * commits on all local non-tracking branches, that are not contained in any tracking branch (current they are compared only with master); * all stashes. REQUIREMENTS: * Ruby. Tested only under 1.9.3. Don't know if it works on 1.8.7 or other versions. * Git. And it must be in the PATH. * RubyGem trollop * zip native utility, and it also should be in the PATH. You don't need this if you don't wanna use "--zip". USAGE: Call git-backup from a Git repository. git-backup [OPTIONS] [<output-dir>] You may omit <output-dir>, if you define GIT_BACKUP_DIR environment variable OPTIONS: --quite, -q: Be quite - no output at all --untracked, -u: Backup untracked files. Note: the path is not preserved, thus only one of files with the same name is stored. --verbose, -v: Be verbose --zip, -z: Compress the output to a zip-archieve --help, -h: Show this message EXAMPLE: git-backup -zu ~/Dropbox/backup Backup unpushed changes from the current repository to ~/Dropbox/backup/gitbackup-<...>.zip, include untracked files.
