Version 1.7.x will only receive critical bug fixes and security fixes, as well PHP version upgrades for patch versions on a best-effort basis. It will not receive new features or support for new minor PHP versions (e.g. PHP 8.3). There is no hard timeline for dropping support for 1.7.x but it should be no sooner than July 2023.
You are encouraged to upgrade to v2.
