nokyc

A script that lists all current Bisq, HodlHodl, and Robosats offers in the terminal, with all communication being done via the Tor network.

Demo

Installation

In order to install this script, simply clone the repository and install the requirements (if necessary) via the below commands:

git clone https://github.com/j4imefoo/nokyc.git
python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt

Please note that you must be running Tor (either via the daemon or the Tor browser) in order for the script to properly gather offers over Tor. The easiest way to get started if you're unfamiliar is to download and run the Tor browser and edit TOR_PORT to 9150 as shown below.

Usage

nokyc.py [-h] [-t {buy,sell}] [-f {eur,usd,gbp,cad,aud,chf,brl,czk,sek,nzd,dkk,pln}] [-d DEVIATION] [-e EXCHANGE]

A script that lists all current Bisq, HodlHodl and Robosats offers in the terminal

options:
  -h, --help show this help message and exit
  -t {buy,sell}, --type {buy,sell}
                        Type of orders (buy or sell)
  -f {eur,usd,gbp,cad,aud,chf,brl,czk,sek,nzd,dkk,pln}, --fiat {eur,usd,gbp,cad,aud,chf,brl,czk,sek,nzd,dkk,pln}
                        Fiat currency
  -d DEVIATION, --deviation DEVIATION
                        Max deviation from market price
  -e EXCHANGE, --exchange EXCHANGE
                        Exchange: bisq robosats hodlhodl

Configuration

We can modify the following parameters in the nokycconfig.ini configuration file:

  • TOR_PORT: The local Tor SOCKS5 port to use, usually 9050 in case of Tor daemon or 9150 for Tor browser.
  • avoid_methods: A list of payment methods to hide in order to get a cleaner output. Methods should be specified in all lower case.

Example output

$ nokyc.py -f eur -t sell -d 8

Price: 42037 EUR

Possible use cases

One can use this script to check on current offers and decide if connecting to Bisq, HodlHodl, or Robosats are best for you in order to buy or sell bitcoin. Take into account that it is possible to run this script wherever we have Python installed, including an Android phone using Termux.

While outside the scope of this project, it is very easy to automate using this script and, eg., get an SMS notification once the script finds a offer we might be interested in.
