This is pretty ugly because we don't use the types at all lol
If we say we expect seconds to be either of type number or ExifDuration, we shouldn't need to check if it's of type string and if we do check it, we'll need to update types further up/try to figure out why/when it can be string and why it isn't typed as this atm
