Maybe we need a service component which is validating the lucene index in some way and starting the rebuild process if necessary.
In some cases there seem to be deployment issues if no index is build manually through the admin client. See: imixs/imixs-jsf-example#14 (comment)

This is indeed a bug - imixs-jsf-sample application will not work after first deploymnt
