Sensors for accessory (Apple Watch, AirPods, etc.) battery level

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I would like to be able to read Apple Watch battery state (percentage, charging). Any other connected accessories, like AirPods, are also welcome.
I tend to charge my devices up to 70-80%, and don't go below 30% to preserve battery lifespan. This still gives me a whole day of uptime, but also saves the battery. Anyways, AW or AirPods charge quite quickly, so I need to keep an eye on it to not go above 80% when charging during the daytime, or at the morning after a night with sleep tracking.
Having battery details in Home Assistance would give me ability to send notifications when device is charged (or a reminder when battery get's below 30%). I would also be able to automate charging and cut off the charger when device is charged to desired 70-80% :)

However I'm not sure because what I meant are only Apple accessories which are displayed in iOS widget. Please close this one if #1331 coincides with this request.

This may be possible for the Watch since we are an app that runs there, but other devices that e.g. show up in the Battery widget are not accessible via API.

I'd like to toss in a request for a binary sensor if the Watch is currently charging or not.

Context: I'm using Apple Watches for locating people through ESPresense. I could fall back to phone location over watch location while the watch is charging.

The app for Mac called "AirBuddy" can display any battery state from any Apple device linked to your iCloud account, so maybe at least battery is possible to expose

It appears the battery level can be grabbed with WKInterfaceDevice.current().batteryLevel on the WatchOS app. I wonder if that can be used to send information back to HA directly or via the paired iPhone.

I did a quick try: #2897 I couldn;'t properly test yet on my routine to see how reliable it is

First 18 hours testing it, looks promising depending on the use case, it reports battery change every 5% more less. Weirdly sometimes you see it reporting "55%" but then look at your watch and it is "57%". Limitation for now is that my implementation supports only 1 Apple Watch and of course it follows the background operations limitation that iPhone already has so... no realtime data reports, it reports when iOS background refreshes the app.

I added a widget keep an eye on update frequency and the performance is great, I'll make a TestFlight beta next week with this feature on it.

Small update: While it is charging, not always it reports state change, actually WHEN it reports is after battery completes charging, but this morning it didn't report anything to me, last report 55% while I know it it at least 80% charged.

I was very happy to see this included in the latest iOS release that came out several days ago after #2897 being merged.

Would it be possible to also include the charging state? The PR is very clean, and I could possibly extend it but wanted to ask. The same API appears to also have the charging state available: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/watchkit/wkinterfacedevicebatterystate

The code is already using .unplugged by default and my naive take was to try and read this state where that's sent

The reason I would like to have this exposed as well is that I currently use this qualifier to determine when a device is finished charging or when it is charging to display the status on a display.

I can get most of what I need just from the battery % sensor and have already done so. Having the charging status is a minor thing that I thought I could potentially help get merged. I did some due diligence and found this conversation and decided to ask the domain expert and author, @bgoncal in this discussion context to see if it would be possible or not.

That should be possible, the only problem is that it won't live-update, watch uses background refresh opportunities such as from the complications reload to notify the iPhone of battery changes so... it would work but idk how late those states would be notified.
