That would encourage me to use hnix-store in Cachix.

Note that I'm not looking for anything "fancy". Compare it to:

nix-store --dump /nix/store/k93qgksnx16qsfhvg4y1xd2bdk6x11kg-postgresql-9.6.8-lib | pv -a >/dev/null 
[ 406MiB/s]

As xz it capped at 0.5MB/s it should be enough to reach that :D
