Overview

We need to research the existing imagery on the manual to find out if parents feel they can trust the information from it.

Action Items

  • Check to see if there is any existing research
  • Create a survey to poll parents with regards to the current imagery and how they feel about it

This is what the survey currently looks like: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vfhWISOIdayp-wXl9mHPTqK12k1_0Wwj5VRNJlxTUbM/edit?usp=sharing

  • Change the original "Juvenile Justice Manual" to black and white
  • I'll add more fonts/styles
  • I'll add age group questions at the beginning of the survey

@ericalhchang will rework the fonts into a pamphlet form to be used for the survey.

@reeree1022 will work on refining the questions before @Olivia-Chiong will format the questions and post it in Slack for people to provide assistance in getting it to right age reading level.

My daughter and I talked, and she asked her 15 yo friend. They don't really know. So here are my suggested rewording for the Juvenile Justice Manual logo survey:

"I believe an app or website with this logo can explain the court system for teens."
"I think an app or website with this logo can help me learn about the court system."
"I trust that an app or website with this logo will help youth understand how the court system works."

Thank you @reeree1022 I'll use these wordings for the survey test.

@Olivia-Chiong I was doing the mockups on a book/pamphlet, but should I switch it to a phone/website mockup then?

@ericalhchang Can you make it a laptop with the words on the screen? (Sorry I just realised this would be closer to our real world use case as pointed out by @reeree1022 )

Survey has been posted out in the general channel with below message:

please help #youth-justice-nav figure out the best language to use in a survey that will be targeting the young people in our lives. If you have a young person aged between 8 to 21, please ask them (or assist them) to complete this simple 3 question survey. It takes less than 2 mins. Thank you! https://app.usabilityhub.com/do/1f647f710dc/a7c1

@ericalhchang will revise the wording to Youth Justice Manual. Also make some changes to the survey and add UCLA/GGU School of Law in the design.
