This adds some tests that can be implemented in terms of the interop client and server definitions but are not officially defined interop tests. They serve as regression tests for problems that were introduced in 0.6.0 and were not covered by our existing tests. I also moved the test from
metadata_testinto the new file and made it a stronger test. I believe these tests together would have caught #1061 and the bug fixed in #1055.
