Host on Netlify refers to an unpublished repo.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Pretend you're a new user.
  2. Go through the Quick Start.
  3. On Host on Netlify, check the assumptions and tell yourself, "Awesome, I've already completed the Quick Start, so I should be good to go."
  4. Go through the section "Create a Netlify account". No problem here.
  5. Now try to go through the section "Create a New Site with Continuous Deployment".
    • The section refers to "New site from git", but Netlify doesn't have that. It does have "Import from Git". Just a renaming, I guess, but the docs should reflect that. (Probably don't need screenshots here if that makes maintenance easier.)
    • The section says, "Select the repo you want to use for continuous deployment." What repo? The Quick Start didn't have you push your repo anywhere. What gets pushed? The entire repro, or just public? This all needs to be clarified for quick onboarding.

The quick start guide was reworked recently and does not held any references to the deploy on netlify any more.

@jmooring: I think we should close this issue.

There's a larger issue behind this one, so I'd like to keep this open just as a reminder. Some of these hosting/deployment pages lack the details for a new user to get it right, and screen captures aren't very helpful. I've spent a lot of time (hundreds of hours) supporting new users, and deployment problems are common. Tutorials like these just need to... work.

Thanks for the input. 🙂
