Installation and Proper Use

Installation

To get started, you need to install the KAaNE program on your personal electronic computer, or PC. To start the installation, simply put your KAaNE floppy disk into your PC and simply follow the instructions on screen! If you don't have the floppy disk, don't worry! Simply go to your internet browser (Such as Netscape) and type in the following "Uniform Resource Locator" or "URL": https://github.com/GamingGuyTyler/KAaNE

Afterwards, click the green button that says "Clone or Download" and then click "Download ZIP". Afterwards, if you don't have WinRAR, then download it thru this URL: https://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

After installing WinRAR, double-click the ZIP file you just installed, then drag it onto a seperate folder, or "extract". Now, if you don't have Python 2.7, download it thru this URL: https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-2715/

Lastly, simply double-click the ktane.py file and KAaNE should successfully launch! If you want to customize how it looks, simply right click the ktane.py file and click "Edit in IDLE", then press F5. There, you can customize the look by going to Options (In the top header), and clicking "Configure IDLE". There, you can change the theme of the program by going to the "Highlighting" tab.

Proper Use

When you launch the program, it'll list all the "modules" that's currently installed. The released floppy disk contains all the "base" modules, including 4 "modded" modules. Each bomb has up to 11 modules, and all bombs have base modules, but a couple contain modded/custom modules. A bomb can be defused by defusing all the modules, and a defuser can see whether or not a module is defused by looking at the indicator at the top right of the module. Green means it's defused, Black means it's not defused, and Red means the defuser has made a mistake. A mistake adds a "strike" to the "strike counter" up above the timer. Upon the 3rd strike, the bomb will explode, so be careful! It'll also explode when the timer reaches 0. If there is no strike counter, that means the bomb will explode on the first strike.

This is where KAaNE comes in. KAaNE is a simpler version of the base manual, as it only asks questions to the defuser, and upon answering the questions, the program will give simple instructions on how to defuse the module.

Normally, the defuser and the bomb expert should be completely separate, only talking on a standard walkie-talkie as having a computer and another person in the same room where the bomb is could be lethal to both you and your PC. However, if you are confident, you may do so. We are not responsible for any damage on your PC or the user.
