Tips & Tricks to get great coverart for your albums

Rhythmbox itself and the new cover search capabilities that comes with the plugin can give you great album-art.

If you are starting afresh with our plugin you may not have many coverart being displayed.

This is our recommendation to find coverart quickly - follow the recommended order below:

  • To start from a clean rhythmbox database, clear all previous coverart, ratings etc then close Rhythmbox and delete the rhythmbox cache:
    rm -rf ~/.cache/rhythmbox/
  • enable the embedded coverart search

preferences

  • configure what providers you wish to use during searching:

configure

  • Search for covers from the providers chosen

Note - you can also use a great music tag editor such as EasyTag to add pictures to your music. You should add pictures to the Front tag - you need only add pictures to one track in an album, not all tracks.

  • Tips: Using LastFM for coverart:

To use LastFM you need to enable the LastFM plugin and also need to login to lastfm as well:

EDIT 21 Dec 2015 - Google has changed the API - the last bit below no longer works. Instead use your favourite browser, search for an image of the album or artist and then drag-and-drop from the browser onto the album/artist cover

  • Then use the power of Google to find those last remaining covers

Either double-click the picture or drag-and-drop to update the coverart for the selected album

Note: you can drag and drop from any picture source/web-page etc.
