The Mumbai link seems to no longer work, and I could not find any updated references in the docs. I have added the polygon mainnet RPC endpoint which will go out in the next minor release. :) |

Yes I noticed that a couple of days ago. So I simply tried an RPC URL listed at https://chainlist.org/chain/80001 and it works without any key. Here's some of the URLs that appear to be working: maticvigil.com is being sunset (see https://twitter.com/BlockVigil/status/1645774912118837250) but still works. |

The mainnet URL has been added to the default provider in v6.7.0. To disable it, you can pass Ley me know if you have any problems. Thanks! :) |

Describe the Feature
Polygon recently have provided their own official free RPC endpoints:
For Polygon mainnet: https://polygon-rpc.com/
For Polygon Testnet (Mumbai): https://rpc-mumbai.matic.today/

Infura's endpoints for Polygon requires a credit card to activate, so those who don't want to give their card details get the error "Project ID does not have access to polygon l2" when using
getDefaultProvider.So Polygon's official RPC endpoints should be used either instead or as a fallback if any error is encountered.
