Spaces: Filtering is unreliable

Description

About half of the time, typing a query in the "Filter all spaces" box doesn't perform any filtering at all, and I have to clear the box and reenter the query for the filter to take effect.

Less frequently, filtering and then selecting a room will cause that room to appear duplicated:

When that happens, subsequently trying to search for a room in the same sublist gives the wrong results:

I don't recall either of these issues happening prior to matrix-org/matrix-react-sdk#5942.

Steps to reproduce

Not entirely sure, as these issues seem to occur at random.
