Statically linking SQLCipher as we were before breaks Seshat on Ubuntu 22.04 which does not include libssl1.1 - we want to avoid statically linking openssl as it is controversial in some linux packages, and we should be able to get away by going back to relying on a system libsqlcipher0 package to provide sqlcipher for official release packages which were not reported to experience the same gtk related sqlite linking problem as the Arch package had

lgtm either way for now, given fixing the whole of hak is a bit of a non-starter for this PR.

I believe this change has broken search in Element Nightly version: 2022053001 (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/element-desktop-nightly-bin) on arch linux.
Looping in the package maintainer @davidmehren

Error is back to the same old

Message search initialization failed
Error opening the database: SqlCipherError("Sqlcipher support is missing")

@HarHarLinks Yup that is expected, @davidmehren if you reach out to me on Matrix at @x:riot.ovh I can get you added to the package maintainers room where we announce such changes

Well there is nothing @davidmehren can do about this, this package use the official binary build. The only way to fix this would be to provide an alternative binary linking statically as before this PR.

We can probably do that given we build it as part of CI already, exposing it as an artifact should be trivial

@davidmehren let me know if uploading either the deb or the linux_unpacked electron-builder output from a statically linked sqlcipher element-desktop build would aid your packaging efforts

This is also and issue with the official .deb build, starting from version 1.10.14.
