This is less than idea, but ultimately true for master. @epixa can you think of a way to help remind whoever branches to 5.1, 5.2, etc. that this needs to be updated?

I was thinking about creating a top level versions file in the root of the project that we can use to track all specific versions like this, so bumping the Kibana version would all be done in the same file. That's separate from this PR, though.

@jbudz Just ignore this comment chain for the sake of this PR.
@spalger Why do we need to hardcode the version in package.json? The version requirement is there for
npm
, which we don't publish Kibana to. We should be able to mark the package.json asprivate

I'm pretty sure npm still complains, but I'm down. Then we can have a versions file separate from package.json
