This is a meta issue for outlining and discussing upcoming 7.5 maps features/dependencies.

SIEM 7.5 Features

• Provide ability to add data from the map to Timeline: [SIEM] Create custom tooltip for embedded map #46301
  • Dependent on: [Maps] [Embeddables] Enable ability to provide custom renderer for tooltip #43641
  • Resolved by: [SIEM] Adds custom tooltip to map for dragging fields to timeline #46879
• Display loading indicator to match loading UI of other SIEM visualizations --
  • LayerToC now shows loader ([Maps] provide isLoading and hasError feedback when legend is collapsed #47157), leaving [Maps] [Embeddables] Provide ability to know when map/embeddable is loading #43695 open as we'll still need the ability to know when an embeddable is done loading to update the global refresh button
• [SIEM] Map should keep zoom level between page loads #44455 [SIEM] Map should keep zoom level between page loads

Open Questions

• Providing Custom Legend
  • Involve design and open conversation around ability to customize LayerToC to needs
• Order src/dest points query on severity? Order Bytes transferred? (i.e. narrowing which 10k returned)
  • Applying a filter to the layer will handle this constraint
• How to specify relative values for custom color ramp configuration for Line Layers?
  • Current support is for absolute values -- will need feature request for this.

With regard to "Add legend for showing Source & Destination colors", I think it would be best to first explore how Maps can enhance the existing legend before going down the road of allowing for custom legends
