Enhancement: Add default dashboard zoom level #17707
Comments
Especially depending on screen size and resolution. Some dashboards that I create at work look ugly when I open them on my laptop at home and i have to zoom-out to make them "fit" perfectly |
@gvnmagni, I figure that this user is asking more for control over font-sizing more than they are asking for a more granular dashboard layout, or a default zoom, because you can make the panels very small / "zoomed out" currently. I am wondering if this fits into your work at all - or if this is something that should be closed? Another argument, is that the zoom level should be up to the individual viewer and shouldn't be provided by us... |
For me it's about the zoom, resizing the visuals doesn't do it. It's when I
zoom the dashboard to -80% it looks good

A couple of screenshots might be helpful here but I think I get the point. My consideration, from the design perspective, is that zooming in and out should be a feature related to accessibility issues and not about style issues. I believe the problem is somewhere else. I can totally understand that reducing everything can create more elegant and clean dashboards (more white space, smaller fonts, more visual separation between charts, more suited for smaller screens) but I'm afraid that our focus should be on "how to we make our dashboards to look great on all screens" rather than rely on accessibility features to overcome the problem. Our dashboards are not perfect and that is why there are multiple initiatives to improve them such as: Hopefully we are on the right direction to make them look better! |
Closing this in favour of #118429 |
Describe the feature: It would be useful to me if I could somehow dictate the default zoom level for dashboards. Some of my dashboards only look good if zoomed back a little bit and I find the default zoom of 100% (default from the browser) is usually too close to make a nice looking dash. I'm not sure the complications this entails because each user has a different monitor and different browser, but if there were an option in advanced options to allow you to somehow standardize the sizing of things, it would be much better than me telling each user to zoom out a bit to make things look appropriate.
