Switching between Dark Mode and Light Mode has no affect on blender. Even when restarting the app.

I think this should be fixed in the latest release, can you download and try it?

The way this is add-on is currently implemented can take up to 10 seconds to respond to changes. Have you tried leaving your system in dark mode for longer than that?

If it still doesn’t work, can you run the following command in a terminal while the OS is in dark mode, and paste the output here?
gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme

Waiting 10 seconds or longer has no affect. It's also worth mentioning that it starts up in light mode, even when dark mode is enabled beforehand.

VanillaOS does not seem to have a gsettings by default.

drwafflephd@apx-vso-pico:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme
bash: gsettings: command not found

drwafflephd@apx-vso-pico:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme
No such schema “org.gnome.desktop.interface”

Upon using gsettings list-schemas, I get these

org.gtk.Settings.ColorChooser
org.gtk.Settings.Debug
org.gtk.Settings.EmojiChooser
org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser

I wouldn't be suprised if gsettings is mostly an ubuntu thing, as, color accents don't seem to be a part of gnome by default.

Sorry to say this is an issue with the darkdetect library, which depends on gsettings: albertosottile/darkdetect#43. Hopefully a fix will be available at some point
