Summary
Transaction fees should be emitted in events so external software can filter events based on transaction fees
Problem Definition
There has been a recent feature request on the Hermes relayer to filter relaying packets based on the fee used to send the packet. This is primarily useful in preventing relaying of packets which pay 0 fees and thus could spam relayers. The longer term solutions are already in development with relayer incentivization (along with min consensus fee designs). No event is currently emitted for the fees for a transaction, so for every transaction coming through events, a relayer would need to query for the transaction and then do processing after that
Proposal
I just noticed #9750 got implemented making this improvement trivial. Before this line we simply need to emit a fee event using
tx.GetFee()While I think longer term improvements remove the need for this event, given the ease of implementation it seems like a worthwhile event to add
