Despite the ci-skip directive and the relative shortness of the code, the GitLab CI pipeline seems to run forever: 4 hours. Is there anything that can be done to get a quicker process?

It looks like each build took 60-80 minutes. This is to be expected when we currently don't have proper caching, but even then it probably goes down something like 30 mins each. Unfortunately, I don't see a quicker turnaround happening anytime soon.
