This pull request introduces the new citation style VILNIUS TECH - APA 7th edition, developed by the Vilnius Tech Library. The style is based on the 7th edition of the APA format, tailored to meet the specific requirements of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH). We kindly request the CSL team to review and approve this style for public use, allowing it to be accessible to all Mendeley and Zotero users.

Thank you for your consideration!

Thanks! Could you describe the differences from the standard APA.csl style?

Dear Brenton M. Wiernik,

Thank you for your assistance in creating the “VILNIUS TECH - APA 7th edition” citation style.

The primary change from the standard APA 7th edition is the inclusion of our university's name in the title. This adjustment will enhance the relevance of the citation style for the VILNIUS TECH academic community, making it easier for our students and faculty to identify and use it consistently.

As a prestigious European technical university, VILNIUS TECH plays a vital role in the progress and development of Lithuania, attracting both local and international students, lecturers, and researchers. We are committed to leveraging technology to address global challenges and seize new opportunities.

Additionally, we kindly request the removal of the existing style titled “Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lietuvių kalba),” based on APA 6th edition, as it is no longer in use.

We appreciate your support in implementing this request, and we look forward to utilizing the new citation style within our community. Thank you once again for your assistance.

But are there any actual changes to the style formatting? If not, we can make a style with the correct title that is just a pointer to the main APA style

Dear Brenton,

Thank you for your reply.

There are no formatting changes from the standard APA 7th edition—just the inclusion of "VILNIUS TECH" in the title for easier identification within our community. A pointer to the main APA style with the correct title would be perfect.

We also kindly request removing the outdated “Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lietuvių kalba)” style (APA 6th edition), or updating the title to reflect APA 6th edition.

Thanks again for your help!

Okay great, then to facilitate maintenance, I'll close this and then add a dependent style.

Dear Brenton,

Thank you once again for your help with the "VILNIUS TECH - APA 7th edition" citation style. I wanted to follow up because I’ve noticed a couple of issues in Word:

  1. I don’t see the "VILNIUS TECH - APA 7th edition" style as expected. Instead, there’s a style labeled "Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (APA)," but we are unsure whether this is based on the APA 6th or 7th edition. So for us it is crucial to note 7th edition in the title.

  2. The outdated style "Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lietuvių kalba)" is still visible, even though we had requested its removal or update to reflect APA 6th edition in the title.

Could you kindly confirm whether the new style has been properly integrated into Word and clarify the version of the "Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (APA)" style with 7th edition in the title? Additionally, we would appreciate if the outdated style in Lietuvių kalba could be removed as planned.

Thanks again for your continued support.

Best regards,
Olena Dubova

I updated the style previously titled "Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lietuvių kalba)" with the new dependent style. You can see that only one style shows if you search "Vilnius" on Zotero.org/styles. If you are still seeing two styles on your computer, the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lietuvių kalba) style is likely one that you had modified and installed locally (or the computer has just not pulled updated styles yet and should within an hour of connecting to the internet with Zotero open).

Generally for adapted styles like this assume that they are based on the latest version of the parent style (APA, Vancouver, Chicago, etc) and only note the edition if they are based on an older version, but we can add the edition to the Vilnius Tech style for clarity.

Dear Brenton,

Thank you for your prompt response and for updating the style.

It’s helpful to know that only one style now appears on Zotero.org/styles and Mendeley, and I will check whether the old style on our computers is due to local modifications or a delay in updating. We’ll monitor it and ensure Zotero and Mendeley are connected to the internet for the update.

Regarding the edition, I appreciate your explanation. Since clarity is crucial for our users, it would be very helpful if the title of the "VILNIUS TECH" style could explicitly mention the 7th edition of APA. This would avoid any confusion within our academic community.

Thank you again for your continued support, and I look forward to the final adjustment.

Best regards,
Olena Dubova
