Describe the bug
One cannot directly link into the genes detail view in dev mode.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Spin up dev mode
  2. Go to http://localhost:8081/gene/HGNC:1100
  3. You are redirected to the root page

Expected behavior
The gene details page should be rendered.
