I like the blue one (05b). More consistent with the current theme color of mxnet

05b...can we adjust how the dots are connected to make it looks more like a subset of graph?

05b, what the logo means?

05b looks great (if 03 can change to blue, it looks good too). mx looks too bold in my opinion.

+1 for 05b! Connected dots look more related to what mxnet provides.

05b is baller. Putting my chips on that one. Though the blue color on the hexagon design would be a close competitor if it was up there....

05b is very cool. We need to connect dots to make it look like graph. Thoughts?

I would take 03 out of contention here - the apache feather and Apache text kind'a seems redundant. 05b is cool.

I like 05b too. but the in-symmetric design triggers my OCD...
Can we make it symmetric by making the line also come out on the bottom right?
Or something like this:

@piiswrong Perhaps need a shape that is combined with a tai chi pattern 😆

Thanks @musho. I like the color scheme in 05a.
Wouldn't the background image look cool on our main page like the one below that @musho had sent earlier.

Here is a proposal of a Lotus Logo for Apache MXNet:

apachemxnet_lotuslogo1

Design Tenets used for the Lotus Logo for Apache MXNet:

  1. The Logo is colorful. Here, the related colors are "mixed" to signify blend of:
    i) Symbolic and Imperative programming paradigms,
ii) Synchronous and Asynchronous execution models,
iii) CPU and GPU processor support, and
iv) beautiful overlap of Computation and Communication in a Distributed System.

  2. The Logo signifies some "deep" meaning. Here the fully "open" Lotus signifies rising and blooming above the complexity murk using the open-source, flexible and efficient Apache MXNet library to achieve an "enlightenment" of Deep Learning.

  3. The Logo uses blue color for MXNet to match its web-site background color.

  4. The Logo is distinguishable on a T-shirt from far or by a person not wearing his spectacles, making it easy to notice and remember the logo for the long-term.

  5. The Logo is easy to draw on a white-board during MXNet training lectures.

You can design many such alternative logos for free at https://www.logomaker.com and then pay $40 for a high-quality image file once the design is confirmed.

@bhavinthaker i like ur logo the best. Another option is to replace the text 'Apache' and replace that with 'Apache Feather' resting on Mxnet. thoughts?

pracheer commented May 8, 2017

@bhavinthaker logo is good. And @nswamy 's background image is nice. Bad that both of them don't seem to go together.

@smarthi How about the apache feather hanging out from the stem of the lotus?

I do not like 05b, the pattern is too generic, not related to "mix net", it's hard to reproduce. 04 and 03 are better because:
04 has a sense of mix
03 pays homage to apache.

05b is best, I think The part on the left should be an independent logo
