Support for Apple Silicon (M1) #3962
-
Question is in three parts:
BackgroundI have couchdb installed locally on my Mac (via Homebrew) for development purposes. Since getting an M1 mac, and switching my Homebrew installation over from the Intel (Rosetta2) version ( ❯ brew install couchdb
Running `brew update --preinstall`...
==> Auto-updated Homebrew!
Updated 1 tap (homebrew/core).
==> Updated Formulae
Updated 2 formulae.
spidermonkey@78: The x86_64 architecture is required for this software.
Error: couchdb: An unsatisfied requirement failed this build. The error message references SM78; and Jan's tweet/PR specifically mentioned SM86 as being needed for Apple Silicon. But it has been exactly 1 year since that PR was merged, so it is not clear whether there is something else preventing support for Apple Silicon? |

Nevermind....the Apple Silicon support has recently appeared on https://formulae.brew.sh/formula/couchdb#default, and works as expected. |
