What output to expect from launch_mapdl(verbose_mapdl=True)?

I just tried to make some old APDL code (in an unknown state ^^) from a former colleage run in pymapdl. It didn't work at first, so I tried to bugfix the code using verbose_mapdl=True (using student version 2021R1 right now), but it did not print out all the return values as I expected. E.g. mapdl.pdef() would have told me, that a path was not correct as I found out using print(mapdl.pdef()). So which return values are supposed to be printed out using verbose_mapdl?

verbose_mapdl=True should print out the command used when launching MAPDL to help with debugging the launch (and additional outputs if using CORBA).

Thanks. So I guess there is no way to get the output of each command with a simple flag?

You can enable logging all commands by setting loglevel='INFO' or loglevel='DEBUG' in launch_mapdl. This is normally set to 'ERROR' to avoid logging everything to stdout.
