Hi @Carreau, @CircleOnCircles, @CorreyL, @DylanYoung, @Mystic-Mirage, @Pacu2, @samoylovfp and anyone else interested in Darker,

As the original author of Darker, I've been super happy to have a bunch of nice contributions from all of you in form of bug reports, suggestions, pull requests, reviews and discussions. Even though it's still obvious that I'm the main driver behind the project, I like to think that there's a nascent community caring for it.

I got this wild idea, probably due to the new on-line lifestyle caused by COVID-19, that it would be nice to have a small virtual get-together between those of us who feel comfortable spending a few moments with each other.

I'm not pushing this in any way, just being curious and probing for interest. Time zones and everyone's work and family schedules are of course a limiting factor, so my hopes aren't too high. But anyway, here goes:

I'm currently in UTC+3 (East European Standard Time, Daylight Savings). I can easily carve a 30-minute slot from my work and family life during weekdays and weekends between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. UTC. I prefer to use meet.jit.si sice it's zero install, but I can also use at least Teams, Slack, Skype, Zoom and Element.io. I'd appreciate if those of you interested in this idea would post your time zones as well as schedule and video call platform limitations, so we can see when and how it's worth trying to schedule a call.

With warmest regards,
Antti

Happy to connect with other contributors! My time zone is PST, so I could try to make time to be available between 11:00pm and 4:00am UTC (4pm-9pm my time) during week days, otherwise 1:00pm and 4:00am UTC on weekends (6am - 9pm my time), depending on the weekend.

Hope I got those times right, using https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/?pl=1&lid=100,8&h=100

Hi everyone, I'm too want to join and engage in this meetup. 😀 This could be my first time meet up with a group from open source community.
my preferred time is any day within ** 1:00 am to 10:00 am UTC** Let me know 3 days ahead would be perfect to prevent conflict.

Hey sorry, the last few days have been a bit crazy, I'll be happy to join, I'm on US Pacific time, so that's usually 4pm-1am(day+1) UTC when I'm awake, I can earlier as well. I have meeting here and there depending on the days.

I'm also hoping at some point we'll see each other in person in there are again conferences !

Seems that the meeting I scheduled to start in 40 minutes didn't suit anyone's plans. I'll be in the Jitsi room anyway for a while just in case you want to make a last minute change of mind.

But I'll be there for sure again in 9 hours and 40 minutes to meet at least @CircleOnCircles and @Mystic-Mirage. See you!

Hey thanks @CircleOnCircles @Mystic-Mirage @Carreau for the nice conversation! Pity that I had an "emergency" and had to leave so soon. But let's have another one in the near future, also so others who couldn't make it but are interested can join as well!

Hi all,

I'm planning the third Darker on-line meetup on jit.si this week. The date and time in different time zones is:

  • Saturday 2020-10-24 at 7:30 am EEST
  • Friday 2020-10-23 at 9:30 pm PDT
  • Saturday 2020-10-24 at 12:30 am EDT
  • see this worldtimebuddy.com link for other time zones
  • I'll hang around for two hours, so feel free to join at any point

Please add a "thumbs up +1" 👍 reaction to this message to let others know if you're planning to join.

Some ideas for topics (feel free to suggest additional ones before the call here, or during the call):

  • say hello to those you haven't met before
  • share ways we're using Darker
  • how to promote Darker
  • demo how pytest-darker works
  • point out issues and pull requests you care about
  • just hang around and relax

I'll try to stop by, last few weeks have been quite busy with my number of unread emails and PR and hacktoberfest oneliner to be quite high.

Hi,

You've recently been contributing to Darker with issue reports, comments, pull requests or reviews, @flying-sheep, @fizbin, @rogalski, @overratedpro, @AckslD, @muggenhor, @hauntsaninja and @talhajunaidd.

Would any of you be interested in participating in a community video call to say hi to other Darker users/contributors?

@AckslD cool, I'll schedule a session during the coming weeks. Do I guess correctly if I assume your timezone is currently CEST (UTC+2)?

Ping @pauloneves,

I saw your comment to the "Gradual adoption: option to only format PEP8 errors" issue (# 134) for Black. The suggestion from Jelle Zijlstra to use git --ignore-revs-file is probably an excellent one for your use case, but if it still doesn't fit your needs, do take a look at Darker. It was designed precisely for the situation you're at, and it's being used successfully by multiple teams.

I've also neglected our virtual meetups for a long time, so in case you'd like to talk live about the topic, I'd be happy to schedule another meetup and welcome you there!
