This can be set as a constant (no need to give users access to this setting as an advanced setting), and is not required, but although the manual says that 'output' is the default, in practice at least the current version of Marxan defaults to using 'temp' instead, which caused the generated output files to not be acknowledged by the processor that reaps results.
