A tiny [ - ] icon to the left of the FullscreenButton in the popup view, that can automatically convert the current playing video into a background player that plays audio, would be really convenient for quickly pushing video out of current view.

Maybe as a future task, rearrange the buttons and also add Close and Mute buttons directly in the popup player... A really old discontinued app from 2013 did this very well, called Viral PopUp Video Player, here's a screenshot!

I'd rather recommend including audio option in resolutions' list
